What we do really matters

“CQC is a well-respected and effective organisation. Our work means that anyone who uses a health or care service can be assured it is safe and of high quality. We encourage improvement, taking action where we need to, giving people the information they need to make choices about their care. As a regulator we are arguably a bit like background music to many people’s lives, however all of us here know that we positively impact on millions of people’s lives every day.
You will be joining us at a time of change in the way people are thinking about health and social care. If you truly believe that you can help health and social care services provide safe, high-quality and compassionate care, then apply today!”
Ian Trenholm, Chief Executive Officer of CQC
We’re the independent regulator of health and social care in England. It’s our job to make sure health and social care services provide people with safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care, and help them to improve wherever they can.
We register care providers, then monitor, inspect and rate services. If, and when, we need to we take action to protect people who use these services. Throughout everything we remain independent and involve the public and people who receive care and work closely with other organisations and public groups. As a result we are the authority on health and social care, publishing our views on major quality issues.
